Business ideas for change!

The era of business today has come to the threshold of modernized trends. People now have platforms to connect their ideas with an unimaginable number of clients. In today’s world, business ideas are not limited by any geographical barriers or cultures. Markets appear to have expanded due to the advent of globalization and industrialization, which have overwhelmingly brought together suppliers and consumers.

Entrepreneurs have also started to look beyond the traditional medium and have introduced products for every audience. For example, beauty brands have launched products for all skin tones to create a consumer base on every continent. This attracts people of different nationalities and increases demand. The business sector has also undergone some innovation shocks. Here are some examples of the same:

Simple sources for inspiration

Here are the stories of several business ideas with humble beginnings that have led to important results:

  • The story of restaurant aggregator and food delivery service  Zomato  began when a few friends from IIT Delhi had to wait and demand food menu flyers from restaurants. Their daily meals at various food establishments attracted audiences who asked which place to visit. They soon thought of putting the entire menu on a review app to satisfy the cravings!
  • Reggie Brown, co-founder of  Snapchat  , came up with a simple idea – send photos to your friends that will disappear after a while. This led to the emergence of multimedia messaging app, which has become the fastest way to share your moments!
  • Netflix  was born because CEO Reed Hastings said he had to pay a $40 late fee for not returning a rented movie on time! Thus, he saved us the effort and decided to give the world “Netflix and Chill.”
  • David Ogilvy, the father of advertising, began his career by selling cookstoves, which impressed his employees. He was tasked with preparing instructions for his fellow salespeople, which fueled his passion for advertising. He then became known as a major advertising magnate and founder of  Ogilvy & Mather  .
  • Jeff Bezos founded  Amazon  as an online bookstore and told investors it had a 70% risk of failure. He went on to include other products to create an “everything store” that would bring consumers and producers together.

These contestants will go through to the final round on December 3 and win a virtual internship at  the University of Canterbury  and  the University of Lincoln  . They also get the opportunity to complete a virtual internship with a company in New Zealand. Stay tuned to  LeverageEdu  for further updates on the competition!
