Jusuf Kalla
First on our list of notable INSEAD alumni is Jusuf Kalla, who rose to prominence by making history by twice being Vice President of the Republic of Indonesia. (2004-2009 and 2014-2019). After completing his graduation in 1967 from Hasanuddin University, Jusuf completed his degree at INSEAD at the Fontainebleau campus. Apart from excelling in his political career, Jusuf also managed to successfully elevate his family business to eminence from scratch.
Peter Fudakowski

Oscar-winning producer Peter Fudakowski is one of our list of notable INSEAD alumni. Peter had always loved movies, but he just wanted a normal job to have financial stability. Born in London to Polish emigrants, Peter has had a very unusual path into the film world. He earned a BA in economics at Cambridge and then completed his MBA at INSEAD (France). He left his job at a Chicago bank and opened his production studio. After many years of productions, documentary filmmaking, traveling and immense hard work; his company marked a milestone with the crime drama film ‘Tsotsi’. The film won an Academy Award in the Best Foreign Film category. Following the success of Tsotsi, Peter produced several thought-provoking films such as ‘Secret Sharer’ (2014), Hysteria (2011) and many more. Peter is currently married to Henrietta Williams and has two children.
Meera Sanyal

Sanyal is a former CEO of the Royal Bank of Scotland, India, and is one of the most respected members of INSEAD’s notable alumni. Sanyal, with a B.com degree from Bombay, completed his MBA from INSEAD at the Fontainebleau campus in 1983. After giving up his 30-year banking career, Sanyal focused on public welfare and joined the NGO where He served the children selflessly. In 2011, Hilary Clinton invited her as the sole representative on the International Women’s Business Leadership Council. Sanyal later participated in politics after the 2008 Mumbai attacks and later became a member of the AAP’s National Economic Policy Committee. Sanyal’s tragic demise occurred on January 11, 2019 due to her cancer illness.

Elena, one of the best-known social entrepreneurs, is a Greek economist and member of the Greek parliament. Elena grew up in Athens and completed her bachelor’s degree in Economics at the American College of Greek and her master’s degree in International Economics. She then completed another Master’s Degree in Business Administration at INSEAD. Elena worked at the World Bank in 1991 as a regional analyst. Elena also served as senior economic advisor and special envoy for the negotiation of Greek sovereign debt and the Greek loan program. She has worked with three Greek Prime Ministers and the Minister of Finance. She was also a visiting professor at the Wharton School on the topic of housing rights.
Tidjane Thiam
Among INSEAD’s most notable alumni, Tidjane was the CEO of Swiss bank Credit Suisse. Tidjane was elected INSEAD Alumni of the Year by the INSEAD Alumni Association in 2007. Tidjane is a descendant of two eminent families and graduated from the Polytechnic field. Additionally, he received a scholarship to an MBA program at INSEAD. After being appointed director general and president of the National Bureau of Technical Studies and Development (BNETD), he also took over as Minister of Planning and Development of Côte d’Ivoire.

Henry Engelhardt, founder and CEO of one of Britain’s most reputable companies, Admiral Group, is next on our list of notable INSEAD alumni. Henry was born into a Jewish family with a meatpacking operation. Henry had initially planned to become a journalist and has a joint degree in journalism and radio, television and film . He then went on to study business at INSEAD in Europe. He is ranked 1730 on the 2020 Forbes billionaires list. His Welsh company Admiral Group also operates in Spain , France, Italy and the United States .
Johann Schneider-Ammann
Our next featured INSEAD alumnus is former President of Switzerland, Johann Schneider-Ammann. Born to a veterinarian in Switzerland , Schneider-Ammann earned a degree in electrical engineering. He then completed his Master of Business Administration at INSEAD (France). Schneider-Ammann was the head of his family’s fourth-generation mechanical engineering company , the Ammann Group. He then went on to be elected as a member of the Free Democratic Party. He then became president of the Swiss Association of Mechanical and Electrical Engineering Industries in 1999 and was elected to the National Council that same year, re-elected to the same position in 2003 and 2007.
